Blabac Photos!

Busy day here so enjoy a couple Mike Blabac photos from Buckey Lasek's backyard bowl.
I've worked with Mike on many occasions, he's a friend with a true talent & passion for photography.
If you dig on these you should check it out his book.

This past "Sunday Chop"

As most of you know over the past year or so sundays around here have turned into "Sunday Chop". Sometimes A ton of work gets done sometimes it doesn't. Well yesterday while Paul slaved away finishing his BMW motor we all sat around and made fun of Matt's new donor bike "Purple Knurple" and somehow we managed to do this for hours.
In Matt's defense the price was right and as always he has 11 different directions in which this project may go.
Stay tuned.

Born Free & Cycle Zombies

Yesterday I rolled solo up the coast to check out the Cycle Zombies Party & Born Free Show.
It was a great day for splitting lanes between Bentleys & Aston Martins through Laguna, Tercels & Civics in Santa Ana. I finally met Chico Motos Troy & Nikki, Hung out with some good friends & I don't think I've seen so many great bikes in one place as I did at the Born Free gig.
It was a good day.
Matt, Nikki, Troy, JD & Cro
Rollin out.

Born Free & Cycle Zombies #2

Probably my favorite bike of the day was this BSA @ the Born Free show.

"Trash Can" Morgan

Bob "Trash Can" Morgan
Bob was a pioneer of the visorless helmet movement, hucking yourself on a BMX bike & a test rider in the early days for Kuwahara & Bicycle Motocross Action magazine.
He sometimes rode in work boots and apparently broke a lot of bikes hence the moniker "Trash Can".
Coasterbrakes, yeah.

Improving The 74 Clutch

This seems to make good sense as a quick & easy mod?
Does anyone have any experience, Relevant thoughts and or Constructive criticism on this so called improvement?

2010 Ducati Hypermotard 796

I've been looking forward to the unveiling of this bike for a few weeks now.
Although the seat, front fender/headlight combo still look motarded the all new 81hp 796 motor sounds like it would be a bit more nimble and all around more fun to ride.

Stuka is a friend of BCM hailing from Northern Ireland, last week we sent him a Bench Mark points cover & it's looking pretty nice on this clean sportster.

Paul, Olga & Bucky's

I get quite a few emails asking "what's going on with the BMW?" Are you going to finish that BMW?"
Well The BMW is named Olga and it's our good friend Paul's project. Paul has a family and pretty much free reign of Bucky's pool so dividing free time between the bike project & skating is a tough decision.
All I can say is, in the words of Robbie Morales
" Mom why couldn't you've bought me a skateboard instead of a BMX bike?"

Weekend Update?

It was the Lil Ladies Birthday so a small party (big drunk) took place which rendered me useless for the rest of the weekend and nothing got done.
I'm not sure what's going on here but I like it.
Olde Pro Matt came over yesterday and tried on every tank and cut out tunnel we had, kept my mind off my misery, picked up a Bench Mark points cover, zip tied everything back on his bike and rode home.
Thanks Matt
Apparently Big Oscar not only has a new project he also picked up an I phone as I keep getting these "No Subject" picture emails.
Make one of them run Oscar & I hope the National City Fire fighters get the fair contract they need soon.

Bench Mark

Bench Mark is something we've been talking about for a few months now and recently decided to pull the trigger. Basically a collaboration between CECNC and BCM, Bench Mark
is the simple concept of small runs of parts, maybe even one off parts available to ya'll on a first come first serve basis. However there may be one, there may be a dozen. There may be a demand and we'll do more? At this point who knows?
What I do know is we will do our best to make sure everything we do will come out of here in a timely fashion with style and the durability to withstand the test of time, many miles and all at a decent price.
Right now we have a few finned points covers that Pat machined and I massaged by hand. There are already only four left, one shovelhead 2 bolt pattern & 3 sportster 2 bolt pattern.
$25 shipped in the US , $35 shipped outside the US.
If you want one. Email us and we'll get it out.

If your interested I just put the last three up on the

Weekend Update

I was a pretty mellow weekend. We did get a little bike work done, BBQed, camped out in the yard with Bob's kids and on Sunday went over to Josh's Boars Nest in Oceanside, Ca. for his annual Labor Day event.
Here's some photos.
Is it Ballooning season? These things are flying over the house daily.
Probably my favorite bike at this event.

Weekend Update#2

This Lil Filly was runnin around with some sort of agenda?
Oh Man was this thing Beautiful!
MMMM...

Weekend Update#3

Long bike with long tank.

One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other

Over the weekend Bob had some motor crazy noise develop, at first we thought a valve, then maybe a bent push rod. So we take the push rods out to check them & of course one cork gaskets immediately went missing. We hunted for a while and turned to looking for an alternative. A little massaging with an X-acto knife and the Grolsch washer worked perfect with zero leaks, I'm not sure how long they'll last but it'll get you home.
A little push rod adjustment and Bob was back on the road
Throw a few in your tool bag.
*cork gasket was found the next day laying in the street.

Something local to do tomorrow

For those of us that that didn't make it to Ground Zero.

The War on Sportster Knee

Now that we can all walk again it was decided to declare our own personal war on "Sportster Knee". We discovered the issues are worn kick shaft bushings and the ratchet teeth on the clutch hub have seen better days as well. Depending on parts availability & $$$ the foot lever will either be replaced or accompanied by a push button starter.
Anyone have info on what the smallest battery we can use with the electric starter and where to find it?

I is For

I heart Stainless.
I found this oil tank I'm pretty happy with, it tucks in & generally just fits a lot better but the bracket was janky crap.
Pat bored and fish mouthed some SS round bar. I poorly melted it together.
Stoked.

In -n- Out Burger

Rarely does a day go by that I'm not stoked on old dirt bike content over at the Instant Traction blog. Today was no exception, first this racy ad by the worlds best God Fearing burger chain and second the sepia photo of the whooped out down hill at the Mammoth Mountain MX track, both I have fond memories of.

Not much going on but the heat.

It's still hot & humid as hell so I haven't spent much time in the garage. I did mount this mirror for the Larson Trump and also the neighborhood speed patrol "Timmy" went missing.
He was an ugly cuss anyway.
