It's that time of the year again.

Every year since 2006 most everyone I know is in prep mode, panicking out the last of a new build, updating the current ride, running some shake down miles and or helping someone else do the same. The first three years the event of spring was EDR, this year it's the Hippy Killer Hoedown & The Bash.   Since I gave up on making it with my FLH I'm going to put a spit shine and put a new seat on the SR500 and run it. I'm already excited.
A few  EDR images

On The Short List

As a couple of my other Euro friends the De Jong Brothers say, "Bikes, Beers, & Bitches!"
The nest of Swedish sin know as Belladonna Trackers appears to have the "BBB" mantra down to a science. Hopefully one day I'll get the chance to get loose and run it hard with the BDT.

RWN SR500

The RWN SR500 is temporarily back on wheels.
I can now fit & mount the tank and fender as well as  finish hacking on the frame. However, even it's current state (the tank just sitting on there) I'm feeling it. Before I dive in I'm going to chill in PV of the Grand Canyon State for a few days, Ditat Deus...

The ErwinSR500 progress

A Hell of a lot of crap cut off the frame, A whole lot more to go. Tank choice will dictate how much of the rear section will be scrap.
Forks, shaved, lowered 2", polished & promptly smudged with grease.
Wheels Powdercoated, tires/mount/balance, inner rotors cleared front and rear, drive side stripped, buffed, &  brought down w/scotch brite, all mounted with stainless.
Tank choices, Anyone?

Hellion?

Man, this bike makes me want to ride fast and terrorize the neighbors.
It just looks nimble & fun, if it were a motocross bike I'd say "flickable". I love the seat setup.
However I don't know anything about it or where I found the photo?
Yay Friday. It's been an odd week.
* 3/24/09   I received an email from friend and EDR alum "Halseth" Scotty from Sac town. Scotty says the bike above was built by Sac local Jeff Worms, the weld on hard tail was shortened, narrowed & the rest of the bits were all fabbed with in a few weeks time.
Jeff did ebay the bike a while back but not before it was featured in Dice Magazine.
Thanks Scotty, See you in a couple weeks.

Happy St Patrick's Day

Remember, no matter how booze fueled you are keep a civil tongue or you may have a meeting with the shillelagh. There's one still hanging in the house where I grew up and although we never met I was taught to have great respect.

Weekend

On Saturday Pat breezed through the machining for the ErwnSR500, Pictured is the rear brake stay, the spacer that adapts a Brembo/Ducati 320mm front rotor upgrade &  the rear sprocket is aluminum so that was slotted old Dura Ace style as well, thanks Pat, I'm Stoked.
I've come to realize I'm probably going to be doing the tank mods for this bike since all the local Dudes are either busy, too cool, or have packed up and moved. So armed with advice from some of them, an old Ron & Sue Fournier book & youtube I sat down at a tig welder and made the oversized steel hockey puck pictured below.  It's four pieces top, bottom, & two strips make up the sides. I'm not bummed on how it turned out, I obviously have to revisit some of it but I think I'll weld a bung in the side, leak test it and maybe fill it with scotch?
Seriously though if anyone has any Reasonable tips/advise and or direction on this stuff I'd be grateful.
Saturday night Pat, Chris, & I hit up the  Dice bro fest in Duarte, Ca. a good time was had and there were some nice bikes for sure. None of my photos are worth a crap but Blue Collar Moto posted some and I'm sure there's some blabbering about it on the Jockey Journal.

MyBMX 2.0

I've been a Tony D flow rider for quite a few years and I've had this Premium Products complete he gave me for a while now. It needed a little facelift for the Old School Reunion Weekend.  So I gave it a bit of  Scott Towne inspired paint and a lot of what my friend Bill calls my "Scotch-Brite Fetish" . Truth be told I've had the same three scotch brite pads for months so maybe Scotch-Brite is a new Pantone name for the shade of silver I've been hooked on for a year or so?
BIG Thanks for the help and bits goes to  McGoo & SNAFU for wheels, Ti pegs, sprocket, & Pedals. Chris Raceles @ Haro/Premium hooked up the lhd crank arms & my new favorite Fat "wrist saver" tires. Sweet Lou  Capparelli  sent me a Duo/Rouge Status pivotol seat and post which is one of the cleanest set ups I've seen in a while.
Thanks Guys, now I have to find my pads so I can roll around Woodward next weekend.

Torker Resto

Longtime friend and Paul's Boutique proprietor, Paul De Jong is on a mission to build 10 early model BMX bikes, I assume for his shop? Check out the Torker he just finished. I loved Torkers.

My Good friend Pat pick up a new bike. Stoked for him.
Check it out over at CECNC

UPDATE - The Erwin SR500

I've been concentrating on the Erwin SR500 front end this week. It's been a ton of slow going busy work but I'm pleased with it so far. I've been stoked on texture contrast lately so I'm liking how the cast steel lower triple turned out. I'll have it clear coated so it won't look plated.
**On a sad note I lost my my very first power tool this week. The Black & Decker 2500rpm hand drill my parents gave me 22 years ago finally laid down on me . She was fast, loud, & chewed up all kinds of drill wheels at a record pace. I wish it had an hour meter.
There were will be a private viewing/service for family and close friends only.
I'm currently testing the obnoxious orange Ridgid 2500rpm unit, It already lacks in the speed department but it's not as noisy.
(sorry for the soft photo, Lighting?)
