1999 KX125

I found these photos last night too.
It was early august of 98 and for some reason a local shop had one 99 KX125. I bought it and immediately showed up at Pro Circuit for some suspension work, pipe & silencer, bars and whatever else I could talk them out of. I rolled it in the shop and Mitch says where the hell did you get that, we don't even have team bikes yet? So the deal was made to leave it for them to fit a bunch team race goodies, this is how it came back to me.
Minus the Ti it was pretty much a full blown race set up, built motor, full suspension work, frame painted, the whole deal. Although it wasn't the fastest bike they ever built for me it handled the best for sure. Well until the frame broke two days before an Anaheim super cross invitational and I had to run out and buy a 2000 Honda but that's another story in itself.

Spring of 95

Thursday practice at Glen Helen Raceway on a borrowed old Splitfire Pro Circuit practice bike. A bunch of us rode that day, although it was late in the day the track wasn't too beat down and it was overcast so the dirt was just getting better as day went on.
I remember it very clearly, good times.

Busy

Dialing in the shop a bit this week.

Spots

I found this photo online a while back simply titled "Quarry".
It reminded me a lot of all those fun riding spots, you know the ones.

I hope

Blatantly ripping off is the sincerest form of flattery?
(if not, Shinya feel free to punch me in the stomach)
After all it was Valentines Day, I didn't have a gift but I had time, some tubing & that "I wanted to see if I could do it" kicked in.

Score!

This morning I went out to the local surplus yard in hopes of finding some prefab legs or a frame for another weld table for the shop, they had them $10.
For another $250 I took home this Baldor 14" polisher.
Stoked!
(Commence with the comments on my Scotch-brite & polishing addiction.)
it's on.

HRD

A lot of great race old bikes at the Island Classic.

Crew Weekend

On Saturday we braved the pissy weather for the 5th round of the supercross season in San Diego's dilapidated Qualcomm stadium.
There was some good racing & I have to say not having a dominant rider winning every night has been fun to watch & we only got rained on for a few minuets.
Big football day was a fry fest that got out of control.
200 hot wings, a few pounds of potato's, pepperoni, Scottish eggs, cheese sticks, twinkies, oreo's & a bunch of other random edibles that after a ton of beer someone thought might taste good.
Great Times, I'm grateful for amazing friends.

CYC Pikes Peak Descent * Part I

I don't know what made me think of this yesterday but as a kid & for whatever reason this article had an impact on me.
The short of it is this. 1978 two Colorado Springs high school juniors send a letter to BMXA explaining they are going to descend Pikes Peak backpacking trails on BMX bikes.
BMXA loves the idea, commits to a two part article (oct-nov/dec issues) and sets the kids up with a bike sponsor, CYC MX.
CYC even went as far as building a couple custom frames complete with sprocket guards.
(the first bashguard bikes)
Part one is the building and testing of the two bikes by the BMXA test team.
Part two is the actual ride.
After revisiting this I think I was just stoked that two kids far from the magazine scene pulled this off, had a cool adventure and got a couple free bikes out of the deal.

Dino!

Dino is one of my interweb buddies from a land far far away.
Dino is in the process of final assembly of his 52 Vespa-Faro Brasso.
I've never been much of a vespa guy but every project Dino gets into turns out really nice with a touch of class that others often overlook.

I'm looking forward to your SR500 Dino.
