Creative Christmas

I didn't make a damn thing for Christmas gifts this year but Pat did.
Check out the cribbage set he machined for his wife.
Beautiful stuff Pat!

I hit up the talented Craig Tirey for some silver work to give the Lil Lady.
Thanks Craig, you made me look good.

I like seeing people taking they're skills and adapting them to other avenues.
Coincidentally there's a thread on this subject over at Chop Cult.

Tradition

Well our tradition of a Christmas Eve day ride went to shit, Pat has the only running bike.
So he went on his own.
There's always next year.

Merry Christmas

We're off to Anaheim today back to Carlsbad sometime in the night then off to Phoenix tomorrow.
It's all worth it to be with Family & Friends.

A Good Christmas to Everyone.

Newson

The Lockheed Lounge chair is one of my all time favorite chairs by one of my favorite designers, although it's constructed from a fiberglass core & numerous pieces of riveted sheet aluminum it feels very fluid & seamless.
Back in May the Lockheed Lounge fetched $1.6million @ auction setting a new record for a living designers work.

Carving Acrylic

As of last week it's been two years since I bought this bike & the fact that it's not done is disturbing me so I decided to put everything aside and finish it, Yeah right.
Every time I do that it just turns into a mess.
For instance all last week I worked on ruining the megaphone and have to start over tomorrow. Then there's this taillight idea. I found this transparent acrylic rod and somehow managed to carve up the first go around of the lenses pretty quickly however it was kind of a test run and needed reshaped in order to fit the internals. So I went ahead and ruined two more tries at the damn thing. So yesterday I decided one more try & if it doesn't work I'm scrapping the stupid idea. Well after many hours of annoying poor Chris with the dremel & flap wheel it finally worked out (so far). It's needs the cavity machined, final shaping/sizing, finish sanded & buffed out. then there's the issue of attaching the damn thing.
Either way this acrylic is pretty cool stuff to work with & it buffs out really easy.

Lesson learned, again: go with the flow & don't force it.

Five Years Ago Today.

I let myself be taken out of the game.
Victim of a double, triple, triple section that I had done a bunch of times the day before. However on this day it was a windy crowded Saturday near the holidays and the track was supper dry & dusty all the main lines were blue groove.
The double an easy 30 footer, the triple, triple was jumping the entire whoop section in two steps. First three fine but when I landed I got wheel spin bad and I knew I was coming up short for next three, panic rev wide open in hopes of getting spit out unscathed.
No such luck, I was catapulted over the bars and immediately run down by my own cart wheeling bike.
Shattered hip socket, tag team of two surgeons & five hours later I was unable to walk for three months but by far the most pleasure was giving myself blood thinner injections to the abdomen twice a day for a month.
Huge Thanks to Brian, Tony, Mitch and Blair if it wasn't for you guys I'm not sure how that whole thing would've turned out.
A few bottoms up to you guys this evening, Thank You!

Being Pulled From 10 Directions This Morning.

I lifted this photo from a guy named Luca while I was on a Sunday night Flickr bender.
I liked the photo, I like chicks, I thought you all might like it too, so I'm posting it.

I don't think there's a written etiquette on photo borrowing for blog consumption and there probably shouldn't be, but when douche nozzles repeatedly lift photos and assume bumping the contrast, adjusting the color balance & adding a lame water mark makes them theirs a lesson in respect is needed.
